Mozart's Piano Sonatas Performed by Stuart Leach

Mozart would be proud.  WCC members were captivated recently as Stuart Leach tickled the keys of the grand piano at Mayflower performing three Mozart sonatas.  His beautiful melodies were described as sparkling and melodious.  Stuart also shared interesting facts about the life of Wolfgang Mozart.  Did you know he had a sister that was also a prodigy, and that they would perform together in Vienna?  Mozart once kissed Marie Antoinette, wrote his first symphony at age 8, wrote many love letters to his wife, Constanza while traveling and was admired greatly by Albert Einstein, who thought his music reflected the ‘inner beauty of the universe”.  We hope to hear Stuart play again as he is also a Chopin devotee.

Stuart Leitch is a highly regarded concert pianist who founded and directed Chamber Opera Chicago.  From high school in Grand Rapids, he attended Oberlin College Conservatory. After a fellowship at Tanglewood Music Center, he worked in Chicago as a soloist and chamber musician. He played for Lyric Opera of Chicago and Chicago Opera Theatre.
