Creatively crafted, there are over 30 items made with blueberries at Blueberry Haven, a blueberry boutique in the heart of Grand Haven, Michigan. Owner Tiffany Balk and her business partner, Jeremy Paquin, invited us into the store for an interesting and tasty Day Away.
Tiffany, also a WCC member, shared the story of how she started Blueberry Haven. With a background in retail sales and marketing and a love of all things blueberry, she opened the store in 2007 when her children were in school and she needed a project. Along the way she teamed up with Chef Jeremy Paquin, who prepared some delicious snacks for us to sample, including Blueberry Crostini and Mushroom Ricotta Toast with Blueberry Chutney.
The blueberries are all sourced from West Michigan farmers. Blueberry salsa, barbecue sauce, jam, coffee, hot fudge, soap, and more are made and packaged right there in Grand Haven. All of their items as well as gift boxes are available on their website, blueberry-haven.com.
A magazine-style cookbook is in the works featuring easy and delicious recipes using their products. Stay tuned for the release of that publication. A store expansion is also planned with more space to craft all things blueberry in the near future.
After doing some shopping at the store we drove over to Noto’s at the Bilmar for a lovely lunch by the beach. If you find yourself in Grand Haven be sure to make a stop at Blueberry Haven!
